Q: Are you allowed to have your own telephone/broadband supplier or do you have to use the site facility. If so is that put out for annual tender to ensure best value? Beatrice from Suffolk

Residents are free to choose a supplier of their choice. Although Peverel Retirement has no involvement with this, we do advise Residents not to affix anything to the interior/exterior of the property without permission. However, I would presume that this will not be the case.

Q: I want to have Sky in my retirement flat. Usually Sky connects for free provided you subscribe for at least 1 yr. Is this correct? I assume that there is a communal dish already installed? Mrs K from Cheshire

Currently, Peverel Retirement uses ABS as the main supplier; however, Sky have recently started to offer a free shared dish which anyone can connect to - providing they take out a subscription and as long as a minimum of four households in the development use the service. With a minimum subscription of around £16 a month, the cost for two years could be under £350. There is no ongoing maintenance charge and Sky will work directly with the landlord and managing agent to set it up.
