"I have been living here for 8 years.
I moved back to the area because I wanted to be closer to my family, mainly because of my health. I lived here some years ago, so know the area.
I chose the property for its convenient location. It is close to shops and the station. I am very satisfied with my flat and the House Manager.
One of the reasons I chose a retirement property was not having to look after the property and garden. I really appreciate being able to potter about in the garden whilst somebody else takes care of the heavy work!"
The verdict:
"In my opinion, Peverel Retirement manages the property well – and the House Manager keeps an eye on everything for me."

"I wanted somewhere more secure after the loss of my husband.
On my first visit to the development, I felt secure and that it was the right place for me. Unfortunately, it took over a year to sell my house, but the staff at Peverel Retirement’s Head Office were brilliant, supporting me during this lengthy selling and buying process.
I moved in February 2009 and feel very secure in my new home.
I wish I had moved to a retirement property years ago! I am so happy with the service provided by Peverel Retirement."
The verdict
"I think the staff are brilliant and cannot be faulted, particularly the House Manager. I would happily recommend Peverel Retirement to anyone."

"Since Peverel took over our retirement complex approximately three years ago, we have been impressed by their professional approach to management at all levels. In particular, the general appearance of our estate has improved significantly."

"We have reviewed the end of year accounts for 08/09 and I’m pleased to say they were in good order. Four members of our Committee did their own reviews and I’m pleased to say there were no adverse comments. So many congratulations to you and your staff."

"Uncle A was quite poorly in 2007. We then had to look at the whole situation regarding his health, where he lived and how we could cope with the distance between our respective homes.
After looking at all of this and the problems to overcome we had to make decisions. After discussing fully with him, we set about finding the best way forward for him to enjoy life to the full.
We looked at and considered all of the options open to us i.e. care homes, sheltered housing, supported living, independent living, assisted living and any other options. Having looked into what was available to us; Homebell House and Peverel Retirement were the only option that gave Uncle A total independence with his own front door to be as private as he wanted to be, or the option to mix with like-minded people who were in the same situation as himself. Above all, a situation where we could offer him support as and when he required it, and for us and him to know that when we were not around, a non-intrusive support system was available to call upon if needed at any time day or night.
We know for a fact that Uncle A has settled into the Peverel Retirement approach to retirement living and is extremely happy with all aspects of his major life change – he openly admits it. He feels safe, secure and lives in a place where people are happy, content and enjoying retirement without any hint of old age care homes.
The support and back up provided by Peverel Retirement is first class, never in your face, but as Uncle A’s next of kin we have witnessed on many occasions both direct and indirect support for the people living in Homebell House. 24 hour cover, 7 days per week, 52 weeks per year and still total independence - who could ask for better?
The contributions of the Homebell House staff could not be better. The grounds are always immaculate, the interior maintained to the highest standard, spotlessly clean at all times everywhere. Activities of a varied nature for everyone who wants to take part in them. All of this is orchestrated by a manager who really tries to create the best possible conditions for people to live independently in her complex."
The verdict
"We could not have found anything better for us to ensure that someone we care about has the best possible living conditions at such an important age."

"I should like to say that one of the best decisions I have ever made is to come and live at Wellside Court.
Security of every kind, I suppose must come first. Peace of mind for myself and family. Also the proximity to the town and transport facilities.
The pleasurable things that come from living in this kind of community are pretty good. Maybe we are just lucky in having a group of people who organise the various and variable events very successfully.
It always amazes me that such a large group of people who were complete strangers a few years ago, have become friends who give a great deal of support and help when life isn’t going too well for you.
I also have heard it said by new residents, how happy they were right from the start because people are so friendly and helpful - not forgetting the House Manager who again is there to help with questions and advice.
I must congratulate you on your appointments of staff, House Manager and Relief Managers who are very competent at keeping the building and gardens well organised, making life very comfortable indeed."
The verdict
"As for my thoughts about Peverel Retirement; I think that you do a pretty good job of the management of our homes. You also seem to appoint excellent staff. In the marketplace I reckon that you are probably one of the best."

"In October 2006 I became a lonely sad widow, living in a home where I had spent sixty three years. I visited a McCarthy and Stone complex not far from where I lived and knew that this was what I needed, a place where there were people in a safe and secure environment.
In May 2007 I moved into my apartment and I am very happy. It takes time to adjust, especially sharing facilities, but this seems to work very well.
The manageress is very helpful, and willingly sorts out any problems I may have. We are also connected to CarelineUK who are instantly on call.
I am glad I chose to live here. I am happy and secure within a very friendly environment. I recommend this way of living if you feel lonely and vulnerable.
From a very happy resident."

"Just a note to say thanks for helping me to settle in after my move to St Mary’s Mead. You provided me with the reassurance I needed by responding so promptly to my questions and concerns.
My daughter, whom you met recently, is happy that I have someone so caring on hand, should any assistance be required."

"I personally am happy here at Kingston Lodge. There is a friendly atmosphere, all the new residents seem very pleasant and happy to fit in, we have quite a few activities – coffee mornings, keep fit, Scrabble evenings and little parties now and then. Some people join in more than others – that is a matter of individual choice.
As to the service charges, my feeling is we get good value for money and we enjoy both the facilities and the peace of mind of having them managed for us."

"If ever you feel you are in a rut, lonely or down in the dumps, sell your house and move into a flat within sheltered accommodation. That's what my husband and I did earlier this year. You make new friends, who I am always chatting with while doing the washing and ironing in the communal laundry. You are near town so you can walk in or look at it out of your window. Go to bingo, the cinema, into town, out for coffee, lunch, or to the theatre and feel healthier and 10 years younger".
