Patricia’s homeless donations take the cake

A Resident is celebrating after her donations to Blackpool’s homeless passed the £4,000 mark.

For the last six years Patricia Wynne from Peverel Retirement-managed Homefylde House, Whitegate Drive, has given away the takings from her weekly home-made cake sales. The takings, all from her fellow Residents, are then used to buy food for people living on the streets via the New Central Methodist Church on Adelaide Street West.

Patricia said: “I enjoy baking so am very pleased to have raised money for such a worthy cause. It’s a joint effort as I always get lots of help from the other ladies at Homefylde House.

‘I’ve been here for eight years and there’s a real community atmosphere; as well as my baking we do lots of other activities such as trips away and coffee mornings.

‘Our House Manager, Christine Henderson, is very caring and always helps out.’

Christine said: ‘Patricia’s baking is a real inspiration and we’re very proud of her hard work and generosity. The Residents here are a lovely bunch and it’s a pleasure to be in such an active environment.’
